Your Back to School Tool Kit

As the new school year approaches, it’s the perfect time to explore the wealth of resources available here at your local library. Whether you’re a student seeking study materials, a parent or guardian looking for educational support, or an educator searching for the right books for your students, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a glimpse of what the Grayslake Library has to offer to help you succeed this academic year!

Book Collection

Of course, what library would be complete without a robust book collection? Here you will find classic novels for your English class, study guides for standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT, and more! Search our catalog to find exactly what you need, and if we don’t have it we can probably have it sent here for you from one of the many libraries in our consortium, or through interlibrary loan.

Research & Learning Tools

With your Grayslake Library card, you have access to a wide selection of online databases and other resources that can help you on your educational journey. From homework help for learners of all ages, to MasterFILE Premier’s thousands of peer-reviewed articles and research papers for your college essays (along with citation formats!).

Public Computers & Wi-fi

Don’t have your own computer or your home internet is out? We have a number of public computers for use by youth, teens, and adults. We also offer free wi-fi for all library users, cardholder or not! We also offer printing and copying services at just $0.10 a page, if you need to print out hard copies of homework or an essay.

Quiet Study Rooms

We have several study rooms available for use by patrons. These are the perfect spot to get some work done, distraction-free. They can also be used for group projects (most rooms have a capacity of 4, with one having a capacity of 6), or by tutors and their students. Some of the rooms are drop-in only, but several are reservable. They grow more popular as the school year marches on, so be sure to get those reservations in as soon as possible!

Volunteer Opportunities

If you have required volunteering times for your school, look no further! We are always accepting volunteers to help us out! We very much appreciate all those who volunteer here. Check the volunteering form out here!

Educational Programs

We offer a wide variety of programs at the Grayslake Library, both for entertainment and for educational purposes. Check out our events calendar for upcoming programs, for STEAM, kindergarten prep, college loans advice, and more!

Teacher & Homeschooler Services

We offer services for teachers and homeschoolers, including loan requests, where you can request a number of items on a specific topic or subject for your students/children! Learn more here.

Test Proctoring

Need to have a test proctored? Look no further! Give us a call at 847.223.5313 and we will happily work with you to set up an appointment.

These are just some of the ways we can help young students and lifelong learners alike. For more information, don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to assist you in any way we can!
