Horror Movies: Classic vs. New

It’s the most wonderful time of the year- Halloween.

The season to face our fears and take a small step toward the realm of horror, through movies of course!

Jason, Freddy, Ghostface, and Michael have cemented their status as horror legends not only for their stories' originality but for the characters' relevancy decades after their debut. Classic horror movies from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s captured a sense of nostalgia that explains a simpler time when a landline phone could cause terror. The most important goal of classic horror films was to show audiences something they’d never seen before, and many of them did.

The horror genre has changed since, and it’s now much harder to show a new concept to audiences. Modern-day horror films are looking to terrify their viewers using special effects, better-developed characters, and strong plotlines. New horror films are pushing past the genre and are racking up awards on their way to the top, accomplishing what classic horror films could not do in their time.

So, are you a classic or new horror film fan?

Take a look at what we have in our collection and put a title on hold for your spooky movie night!
